Blogging President Bush at the DAR part one
Here I am again. I have been lucky
enough to snagg an invite to a
Presidential speech. This is a POTUS
pep talk for Senior Executives. The room is filled with the executive
leadership of the entire federal
Government and their cronies. That's
where I come in. The last time I was
here there were a lot more cronies,
20-somethings with political
appointments. Some of whom were my
old pals from my RNC days. Don't see
any today.
The room is filling. They always spring
these tickets on me at the last minute
so I never have a suit on. I hate that.
The stage has 50 or seats that are
empty. My guess is that they are
for the President's direct reports.
Every third person is punching away
at a blackberry. I passed up better
floor seats to sit in nose bleed. DC is
making me more and more
claustorphobic.
The monitors are scrolling through
slides with all the big accomplishments
each agency has come up with this
year. It feels a little forced. These
are the accomplishments only a
beaucrat could love. The whatever
administartion cut the application time
for blah-blah down to 45 days.
"HHS developed a vaccine against
avain flu" - that one wasn't bad.
Stay tuned
Next post: some one will actually say something!
