Bumpin' into Bush (an unpublished old post)

Yeah, ok, I ran into George H W Bush
tonight at reception at the Mayflower
hotel. Barbara was also there too which
was super cool.

I really like those people. They were
very generous with their time and
were perfectly classy as always.

They have been hanging out with the
Clinton's lately, which doesn't bother
me in the least. It's a short list of
people who have had that job. It's not
like they don't have anything in common.

Anyway, I thought about making chit
chat but everybody wanted to and I
have spoken to them several times in
the past and it just felt like star
gazing. Plus I wasn't wearing a tie and
was feeling self conscious. Sheesh, had
I known!? This sounds familiar...

There was that one time we had a
luncheon at the Bush School and 41
randomly showed up AND it was
assigned seating AND I was way late
AND Mr. Bush was at my table. He
was so cool about it. Always generous
and always completely classy.

One other item of note:
George was wearing a Sears Sucker
suit and he joked about it saying
that he thought he looked like the
Good Humor ice cream man. Everyone
laughed but I couldn't help wondering
how many 20-somethings caught the
reference. I got it not because I have
ever seen a Goog Humor man in the
flesh but because I am a TV addict.

Dean Chilcoat (former 3 star general)
was gushing about them showing up.
I would gush too if a president crashed
my party. That will fuel the old ego.

Anyway, I thought that was completely
bloggable.

I wish Sharon and Taryn could have
been there.
