Swim 2010

What do we do most Monday, Tuesday and Thursday? We head to the pool for Swim Team practice. Taryn is in the entry level of Swim team. What does that mean? She doesn't compete. But the Team has two swim meets for the entry level. Today was the first one. Taryn loves to swim and she is totally like me (Sharon), she thinks she can do anything. For example, when I was 9 months Pregnant with Meg, we introduced her to ice skating. I Like to ice skate, Dan does not. Since I was not able to skate Dan has to take Taryn around on the ice. She had never skated before, but just like me, she felt she can step out on to the ice and do spins like the people on TV. After 20 mins of Dan trying to keep his balance and preventing Taryn from falling, Taryn was still determined to do some spins. She kinda did, but it was a "look I'm slowly turning while Daddy is holding my hand." Needless to say, This is where we taught Taryn it takes practice to be good at things.
That next summer Taryn decided that swimming was going to be her thing. She passed level one by the end of last summer and she was ready to learn how to breathe, learn strokes and more kicking. I decided I wanted to try out the swim team. Since I can walk to the pool and it meets earlier then all the swim lessons.
Taryn has worked hard, she has learned that she may love a coach, but she has to move coaches if they ask her. She saw how excited I got for her when she swam all by herself 1/3 of a lane.
So Today at her first swim meet, (it was just all the entry level kids swimming in the lanes) no winners, no losers, just fun. Taryn was in the first heat. She did win, but we are not counting who won and who didn't. The greatest part about this is that she Swam the whole lane all by herself. (her coach was there to help her catch her breath over half way through.) I'm so proud of my little swimmer. She got out of the pool and said, 'mom next time I'm swimming with a noodle', which she did for Back stroke (which she calls back swim) but did not for the relay....
( I think this is the longest post I have ever written)
So we have a swimmer, I love it, I love she loves to swim and I hope she continues to want to swim.

She is the one in the orange cap (swimmer of the week cap) and the pink swim suit.
